Now and then I want to pepper this blog with facts about life here, outside of the house project. Dengue is rampant right now in Oaxaca, as we are having a full blown rainy season (yay!) with lots of mosquitos. There are 4 types of dengue...all of which are now happening in Oaxaca. Our primary care doctor said that was due to the migrants coming through from South America, bring new strains.
If you plan on visiting during the rainy season, you definitely want to do all you can to prevent it. Which means:
Wear repellent on exposed skin daily.
Wear pants and long sleeves when possible, minimize exposed skin.
Avoid being outside during peak mosquito times - dawn and dusk
