This week's visit and progress - la visita de esta semana y progreso en la obra

 Here are a few shots from our visit this week.  We have been nailing down the kitchen cupboard design, as that goes in next.  

Cruz (in black) and Victor at work.  Cruz is an architecture student, and he’s been working at our house as part of his academic experience. 

House tile and the red brick that will be the floor of our porch and terrace upstairs.

Sorpresa wanted to ride in the front of Victor’s truck.  She normally rides in back with Federico, but we had to convince her to get out.  

Aquí hay algunas fotos de nuestra visita de esta semana. Hemos estado finalizando el diseño de los muebles de la cocina, que es lo que viene a continuación.

Sorpresa quería ir delante de la camioneta de Víctor. Normalmente va detrás con Federico, pero tuvimos que convencerla de que se bajara.

Roofing - techado

We have a beautiful L shaped porch, with a tile roof (like most of the house).  The roof is made of pine wood, a layer of waterproof material to protect the wood, and then the tile.  Here are the workers putting on that layer of weather proofing for the porch roof.  

A good photo where you see the red waterproof material covering the wood, and then the plain wood, yet to be protected. 

Victor created this little tunnel for the water to drain off the roof, to be harvested in our rainwater cistern.

Tenemos un hermoso corredor en forma de L con techo de tejas (como la mayor parte de la casa). El techo es de madera de pino, con una capa de impermeabilización para proteger la madera y, finalmente, las tejas. Aquí están los trabajadores colocando la impermeabilización del techo del corredor. 

Víctor creó este pequeño túnel para que el agua drene del techo y se recoja en nuestra cisterna de agua de lluvia.
